FWA Market Boom: 18.8% Growth by 2030 | Fixed Wireless Access Analysis (2025)

The fixed wireless access (FWA) market is on fire, with a growth rate that's simply astonishing! A recent report by ABI Research reveals a bright future for FWA, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The report predicts a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.8% from 2023 to 2030, which is music to the ears of investors and enthusiasts alike. By the end of this period, the service revenue is expected to reach a whopping $111 billion, with annual data traffic touching the 1 Zettabyte mark, an impressive CAGR of 18.7%.

But here's where it gets interesting: the FWA subscriber base is predicted to skyrocket to 233 million by the end of the study period, with 5G FWA accounting for a massive 81% of this growth. That's a significant shift towards wireless connectivity, and it's not just a passing trend.

Verizon and T-Mobile, two major players in the industry, have revised their targets, almost doubling their original projections. This is a clear indication of the confidence these companies have in the future of FWA.

"Ongoing technology advancements within 5G Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) will be a game-changer," says Larbi Belkhit, an industry analyst at ABI Research. "As 5G networks evolve, operators will focus more on service monetization, moving away from simple speed-based models."

The dominance of wireless Internet is evident. A J.D. Power report this month highlights the growing popularity of FWA services, especially among new subscribers. Satisfaction rates for wireless internet are significantly higher than wired connections, with a score of 647 out of 1000, compared to 554 for wired.

And this is the part most people miss: a Horowitz Research report from April reveals that 56% of non-FWA subscribers are likely to switch to FWA when it becomes available in their area. Penetration has already increased threefold since 2023, reaching 12%.

So, is the future of Internet connectivity truly wireless? With these impressive growth rates and subscriber trends, it certainly seems so. But what do you think? Is wireless the way forward, or are there potential pitfalls we should consider? Let's discuss in the comments and share our thoughts on this exciting development!
